Why these are studied together

Semax and Selank are both short synthetic peptides that have been studied in cognition research, and they are often examined as a pair because their reported mechanisms overlap in part and differ in part. Semax, an ACTH-derived fragment modified to lack corticotropic activity, has been investigated for effects on BDNF expression and on dopaminergic and serotonergic pathways associated with attention. Selank, a tuftsin analog, has been studied for GABAergic signaling, serotonin metabolism, and BDNF expression as a non-sedating anxiolytic candidate. Brain functional connectivity research has examined the two together. Human safety data for both remain limited.
