Training creates damage on purpose. The adaptation happens afterward, during a repair process that depends on cellular machinery most training programs never mention.
That process involves the migration of repair-associated cells to the site of stress, the remodeling of structural proteins, and a coordinated inflammatory sequence that has to both start and stop on schedule. Each of those steps is a research target.
Compounds studied in this space are generally investigated for their interaction with structural proteins like actin, or with the signals that recruit repair cells. The research is preclinical in most cases.
The practical takeaway is unglamorous: recovery capacity is a trainable, supportable variable, not a passive waiting period.
